Attaining zero friction is very difficult as matter exists everywhere on Earth.

However, creating a vacuum chamber will reduce the friction to a greater amount.

Rockets stop in space by firing thrusters in the opposite direction to the direction in which they are travelling.

This will create a force in the opposite direction, thereby enabling them to stop in space.
