HCOOH + H2SO4  → CO + H2SO4.H2O

 1 mole                     1 mole

H2C2O4   + H2SO4 → CO           + CO2 + H2SO4.H2O

1 mole                         1 mole       1 mole

Let  V litre  be the total volume of the gas.

Volume of CO2 in the mixture = V/6 (CO2 is absorbed in KOH)

Volume of total CO = V – V/6 = 5V/6

Volume of  CO produced from H2C2O4  = V/6 = = V/6 X 1/22.4 mole

Volume of  CO produced from HCOOH = 5V/6 – V/6 = 4V/6 = 4V     moles

                                                                                                 6 x 22.4
