Calcium combines with oxygen to form calcium oxide.

 

    2Ca    +      O2       →        2CaO

Calcium   Oxygen      Calcium oxide

Molecular formula:

Using the valency of the ions we can write the molecular formulae of compounds.

 

Therefore, the molecular formula of Calcium oxide is CaO.
