Dear Student,
 

NaHCO3 + CH3COOH → CH3COONa + CO2(g) + H2O

8.4 g              20 g                                     4.4 g

Mass of the reactants = 8.4 g + 20 g = 28.4 g

According to the law of conservation of mass,

Total mass of reactants = Total mass of products = 28.4 g

Therefore,

Mass of the residue       = Total mass of products – Mass of CO2

                                                                        = 28.4 g – 4.4 g

                                    = 24.0 g

Thus, the mass of residue solution is 24 g.
