Stressed about your upcoming board exams? Wondering what examiners look for in your answers?
Well, during a live chat with Topper expert Prateeksha, students got all the answers to these questions!
Here is the transcript:
prateek: what are the points teacher looks for when marking the answer ?
prateeksha_j: Hi Prateek, examiners look for step-wise solution as there are marks for the steps in CBSE. Also, a nice presentation makes all the difference
rubin: the best way to solve my maths paper on time i am not that good in maths.
prateeksha_j: Hi Rubin, well to answer the paper in time first of all be through in the preparation. Then practice some mock papers to help you manage time. Don' spend too much time on a question if you are stuck. You can always come back to it at the end. Be calm and don't be nervous during the exam. Also, CBSE gives 15 minutes of reading time -- make sure you use that.
deepti: is it advisible to do questions of higher weightage first ??
prateeksha_j: Yes Deepti. It is better to start with six markers. There are two reasons for it. Incase you are not able to finish the paper then the loss will not be too much and other generally 6-mark questions are well-known and straight-forward questions. So, solving them will give you a moral boost.
jayesh: is there any step marking in mathematics papr
prateeksha_j: Hi Jayesh, there is a step-wise marking in Maths papers. Practice with these mock papers and get an idea about the marking scheme.
raghav: how can i get my asmers sheet re-evaluated?
prateeksha_j: Hi Raghav, once the results are announced CBSE gives some 10-15 days of time to apply for re-evaluation and rechecking. In rechecking only re-totalling is done while in re evaluation the answer sheet is evaluated again. The forms are available with CBSE office at Preet Vihar.
julie: do u think group study for maths will provide better results?
prateeksha_j: Hi Julie It depends on the individual. However, instead of group study you can study on your own and plan for doubt discussion in a group. This will help.
rithima: Hi wot would be the maximum numbers to get thru cut list of DU colleges for Maths hons
prateeksha_j: Hi Rithima, it depends on the college you are looking for. At St Stephen's the cut-off is about 93%. If the score is above 85% then your chances are bright
nitinj: Is the candidate allowed to see the answer script in case the result is not as per the expectations?
prateeksha_j: Hi Nitinj, as of now as per policy CBSE does not show the answer script but you can apply for revaluation.
sarika: Hi i was not that good with maths exam this year .. i wanna pursue engg is it possible to go for engg without Maths?
prateeksha_j: Hi Sarika, most engineering colleges admit students based on the result in the entrance test, and look for a minimum score of 50-60 % in the Class XII exam. So, don't worry about that. Concentrate on the preparation of entrance. Engineering can't be done without Maths.
