The Google Global Science Fair 2011 competition begins on January 11, 2011 and ends on July 11, 2011. The Google computer runs the official clock for the competition. It will solely determine the time by which an entry from a student is received. During the competition period, there is a single open call for the submission of entries. There are two judging rounds.
The open call for entries is from Jan11, 2011 to April 4, 2011. The first round for judging the finalists would on April 5, 2011 and would end on May 6, 2011. There are three categories, divided on the basis of age group. They include 13-14, 14-15 and 15-16 years of age. Google would announce the semi-finalists on May 9, 2011. It would conduct the second round of judging to select the finalists on May 9, 2011 and would end it on May 20, 2011. Google would conduct public voting for People's Choice Winner on May 23, 2011. It would announce the Finalist Event/Winners Selected on July 11, 2011.
You can apply for it if you are anywhere between 13 and 18 years of age, are a full-time student enrolled in a private, public or a home school. You need to have your parent's or legal guardian's permission to enter this competition. The sponsor reserves all the rights to verify an individual's eligibility to take part in the competition.
Google would give grand prizes to the winners. The main attractions of the prize include scholarship money, a visit to CERN, Google, the LEGO Group or Scientific American offices. You can apply to the competition by registering on the application form available from its website. To get access, search with the keyword 'Google Science Fair' on the Google home page.
