Who is Wenlock?

Wenlock is the official Mascot for London 2012 Olympic Games. Wenlock is created from the last drops of steel left over from the girders made for the Olympic Stadium.


From where does Wenlock's name come from?


The London Olympic mascot gets its name from the small town of Much Wenlock in Shropshire. This place is also considered as the birthplace of the modern Olympics.


What does Wenlock represent?

Wenlock has a number of interesting features that reflect different and unique elements of London and Olympics:

* Spikes on Wenlock's head which are three in number represent the podium where athletes will collect their medals.

* The "W" light on Wenlock's forehead reflects London Taxis

* Wenlock's has a single eye which is actually a video camera so that Wenlock could record everything that it sees.

* Wenlock's bracelets are friendship bands based on color scheme of the five Olympic rings.


What is Wenlock's mission?

Wenlock's mission is to learn about all the Olympic sports before summer 2012 by travelling all around United Kingdom. Wenlock mission is also to make as many buddies as possible throughout his journey.  Wenlock also wears friendship bands in the five Olympic colors to represent the buddies and friends he has made from all over the world.
