Krishna and Indra

Krishna wanted to teach a lesson to Indra,the Proud Lord of the Heavens. So he changed the annual offering to the hill called Govardhan. Fuming, Indra caused heavy rains for seven days and the entire forest was flooded. Krishna protected the village by using the entire Govardhan hill as an umbrella for all his subjects.

Krishna went to a fruit seller and asked her to give Him fruits in return of a handful grains. To her surprise, when she opened the basket at home she found her basket shimmering with precious stones and gems instead of grains.

Krishna and Kaliya

Kaliya Nag had been occupying the river Yamuna and its banks. It had poisoned the waters of Yamuna and also dried the forests nearby. Krishna jumped into the water to kill the serpent. He was coiled around by Kaliya, and he lay at the bottom of the river. Using his divine powers he uncoiled himself from the serpent and attempted to kill it. But on the request of the wives of Kaliya, he left it alone and asked them all to leave the shores of Yamuna.

Bakasura and Krishna

Bakasura had taken the form of a giant bird and terrorised Gokul. Krishna, in an act of bravery entered the mouth of the bird and as soon as he did this the bird closed its beak. But Krishna wriggled round and round inside him so as to make him uneasy and ultimately Bakasura had to vomit Krishna out, which eventually led to his death.

Krishna and his Mother

Once Yashoda, believing that her Son had put some soil into his mouth, forcefully made him open his mouth. When She did this, She was wonder-struck to see the entire universe-the sun, the moon, stars, the earth etc.inside Krishna's mouth. Then Yashoda was fully convinced that her son was not an ordinary boy but God Himself.

Krishna's Childhood Stories

Demon Kesi wanted to kill Krishna. Kesi took the form of a terrible horse. He came galloping to Vrindavan with his mane flowing and hooves clattering.Kesi dug up the earth with his hooves and charged towards him like an angry lion. With great might, he jumped on Krishna and tried to trample him with his hooves.Krishna caught hold of his legs and after swinging him around, flung him on the ground. Kesi fell with a thud and became unconscious. After regaining his senses he again attacked, but this time Krishna put his hands into his mouth and chocked him to death.
