why does adding of baking soda into a beaker with hydrilla covered with a test tube and kept underneath a light source increase the amount of oxygen coming out?Is it because baking soda has a lot of carbon dioxide?

Baking soda is the source of carbon dioxide. For photosynthesis to occur, carbon dioxide, water and light are needed. Only then will glucose be produced and oxygen gas released.
