# When a bar magnet falls in a metal cylinder with vertical axis, the acceleration of the magnet is?

Tue December 06, 2011
acceleration is less than g.
because, the net force on the bar magnet is=(weight of the magnet)-(force on it due to electric field produced due to changing magnetic field thru it)
this changing magnetic field, eddy current is produced , which will oppose the motion of the magnet downward.
