# What is the exact difference between speed and velocity?I can't understand it through technical terms.

A speed is a scalar and velocity is vector.
Suppose the speed of a body A moving in x direction is 3 m/s and for a body B moving in y direction it is 3 m/s.
Thus their speed is same but their velocity is different.
It is a vector.
Eg. in a closed loop, the end distance travelled will be a finite quantity but the net displacement of the body is zero (distance between initial and final position). Thus its speed being a scalar thus independent of direction will be a finite quantity but the velocity will be 0 as no displacenet is produced ther is no change in directon and position.
