How much work is done by the gravitational force of earth acting on a satellite moving around it in a circular path? Give reason for the answer.

No work is done by the gravitational force of earth acting on a satellite moving around it in a circular path because the gravity is always pointing towards the center of the earth which provides the centripetal force required for circular motion and the satellite is going tangentially, the angle between is 90 degrees.
work done is the scalar product of force and displacement,which is Fd cos angle between them. so cos90= 0 hence work done is zero.
