A stone of 1kg is thrown to the velocity of 20m/s across the frozen surface of a lake and comes to rest after travelling a distance of 50m.What is the force of friction between the stone and the ice?

INITIAL VELOCITY, U = 20 m/s
Final velocity, v = 0
Distance travelled, s = 50 m
using 3rd equation of motion
acceleration, a = u2/2s = 4 m/s2
Ts force of friction = 1 x 4 = 4 N
