What is the relation between chromosomes, DNA and genes?

The cell’s nucleus contains chromosomes made from long DNA molecules. In the nucleus, the DNA bound and coiled with protein histone forms chromosome.

 Each DNA molecule is composed of many genes. A gene is just the specific portion of the DNA molecule that contain the information required to synthesize a particular protein.

 

Thus, each chromosome carries a number of genes
