H-boding is a type of van der waals force. Van der waals are forces that attract molecules together (attractions between molecule and molecule) and are relatively weak. H-boding is the strongest type of van der waals which is due to the polar bonding between the hydrogen and oxygen atom (H becomes partially positive, O becomes partially negative, thus molecules end up attracted to one another in a weak force). There are other types of van der waals forces such as London Dispersion and Dipole-Dipole.
Energies associated with van der Waals interactions are quite small. Usually, they are about 2 to 4 kJ/mol per atom pair.
