Angular velocity and angular frequency are different names given to the same physical quantity ?.

The term angular velocity is generally used in dealing with mechanical systems while angular frequency is generally used in em waves /signals. Both are actually same.
Omega (?) is a symbol used to denote various quantities like angular velocity or the angular frequency etc.
If it is given as angular frequency the following formula is used,

Where, ? is the linear frequency.
And if it is given as angular velocity then we use,

Where, ? is the angular displacement is used.
