We know that Covalent bonds form weak bonds and still Carbon forms strong bonds. Why?-Explain

Carbon froms strong bonds because of its small size.The small size of carbon helps the nucleus to hold on to the shared pairs of electrons strongly. The valence shell is therefore very close to the nucleus.
