According to the magnitude of resultant velocity, v = u - gt
The object is moving upwards and gravity act downwards. If object is thrown vertically upwards , its velocity will decrease because of the gravity acting on it in downward direct. At maximum height, its velocity will be zero and when it will come down then the object velocity will increase. Resultant will be zero.
