Two statements are given below 1)current is directly proportional to potential difference. 2)potential difference is directly proportional to current. which statement is true and give explanation about it.

If there is a potential difference between two points, only then the current will flow. Moreover, the amount of current flowing is large if the potential difference is large. so, current is directly proportional to potential difference.
From the relative amount of current flowing in a circuit we can infer if the potential difference is large or small. But the current will only flow if there is a potential difference.
