Resistivity is a measure of how strongly a material opposes the flow of electric current. A low resistivity indicates a material that readily allows the movement of electric charges. The SI unit of electrical resistivity is ohm metre (?m). It is commonly represented by the Greek letter ? (rho).

Resistivity is a property of the material of the conductor. Materials with low resistivity are good conductors of electricity and materials with high resistivity are good insulators.
