PLEASE TELL ME BASED ON SOLUTE AND SOLVENT INTERACTIONS ARRANGE FOLLOWING IN ORDER OF INCREASING SOLUBILITY IN N OCTANE AND EXPLAIN . CYCLOHEXANE ,KCL , CH3 OH AND CH3 CN

Solute solvent interactions are based on the principle like dissolves like so a polar solute will be soluble in a polar solvent while a non polar solute will be soluble in non polar solvent.
Since  n- octane is a hydrocarbon, so it will be non polar and hence only non polar soutes will interact or disssolve to a maximum extent in it.
 
Out of cyclohexane, KCl, CH3OH, CH3CN KCl is an ionic compound so it will be most polar out of all. Out of alcohols and cyanides, alcohols are more polar since thay hav more electronegative oxygen than niytrogen so their will be more sepparation of charges in case of alcohols than cyanides.
 
cyclohexane will  be least polar of all since it is a hydrocarbon.
 
So on the basis of above explanation we can arange these in order of incresing solubility:
 
 
KCl<CH3OH<CH3CN< cyclohexane
