in a series combination, the current does not change. a number of resisitors resist the current flowing and hence the current should keep on decreasing. but this does not happen. Why so?

In series, two or more resistors are connected in such a way that the same current flows in one path through all resistors when some potential is applied across the combination.
the net current = V / Rs ; here Rs = sum of all the resistances connected in series.
