if x=1,y=1 how are they represented on a graph?and why?

Answer : Here we consider a graph such that it divides the area into 4qudrants, where every quadrants is defined into equal interval sizes.
In 1st quadrant , x is positive, y is positive.
In 2nd quadrant , x is negative, y is positive.
In 3rd quadrant , x is negative, y is negative
In 4th quadrant , x is positive, y is negative.
 
In the above graph , according x=1, y=1 i.e (1,1) is marked.
we represent quantities on a graph to study a comparitive study and to better analyse the increment and decrement between quantities.
