how to recognise which carbon is sp2 and which is sp3 hybridised?

The number of atoms join with each carbon give the information of type of hybridisation.

For example, CH3CH2OH

The first carbon joined with 4 other atom 3H and one C.so 4 hybrid orbital required ,so hybridisation of that carbon is sp3 and the hybridisation of 2 carbon is also sp3(1C ,2H and 1 O)
