how could a seed germinate in absence oxygen where it is an a major condition for germination?

Seeds require oxygen for germination.
A number of aquatic and marshland species need anaerobic conditions i.e. conditions lacking oxygen, to initiate germination. However all other seeds germinate best when oxygen is available.
