how can we solve equations with one x term and a constant with factorisation method ?

If x ? p is a factor of a linear polynomial, then the solution of that polynomial is p.

 

Consider a linear equation in one variable as ax + b = 0

Dividing a (the coefficient of x) both sides;  x + b/a = 0

That is x –( ?b/a) = 0

 

This means x –( ?b/a)  is a factor ax + b.

So, the solution of the equation x –( ?b/a) is ?b/a
