Aniline is an aromatic compound so it will undergo incompelete combustion (on flame test) and formation of soot will take place whereas methaneamine is aliphatic so it will undergo compelete combustion (on flame test)and hence result in non sooty flame .
Both these compounds can be differentiated by a flame test without using any chemical and simply exposing them to flame ,aniline will give a sooty flame and methaneamine will give a non sooty flame on combustion.
