how can the mass of liquid displaced be equal to the volume of the object immersed in the liquid?

Mass of the liquid is not equal to the volume of the object immersed in the liquid but when an object is wholly or partially immersed in a liquid and the weight of the object is equal to the weight of the liquid displaced, the object will stay in the position of rest completely immersed in the liquid.
