K2NiCl6 does not exist because the most common oxidation state for Ni is +2. +3 and +4 oxidation state is less stable for Ni but K2PtCl6 exist because it becomes much easier to achieve the +4 state as one move down the group. The stability of +4 oxidation state increases down the group.
