doesn't an object sink or float depending on its area of contact too?

If two objects having the same weight , but one can float on the surface of water and another can sink becuase flat/sinking of an object depends upon the density of an object.  But if one object is spread and its area get increases then its density of molecules per unit surface area will decrease and it will affect the object to float and sink.
