Dehydrohalogenation of n-butyl chloride forms but-1-ene as the product .
The intermediate carbocation is stablised by the polar solvent used in the dehydrohalogenation and hence rearrangement does not occur and base attacks on the beta hydrogen leading to the formation of but-1-ene.
