Ammonification - It is the formation of ammonia or its compounds from nitrogenous compounds (e.g., nitrogen present in dead plant material compounds), especially as a result of bacterial decomposition
 
Denitrification: It is the process in which soil bacteria convert nitrate (and/or nitrite) to nitrogen-containing gases such as N2O and ultimately N2.
 
Nitrification: Nitrification is the process in which ammonium is converted to nitrite and then nitrate. This process naturally occurs in the environment, where it is carried out by specialized bacteria.
