Diseases are classified in many ways.

Basically diseases are of 2 types:

  1. Communicable diseases (Infectious)
  2. Non-communicable diseases (Non-infectious)

Infectious diseases are further classified according to the causative agent as

  1. Parasital
  2. Bacterial
  3. Viral
  4. Fungal etc.

In addition, the infectious diseases are also classified according to their way of spreading as airborne, waterborne, food borne etc.

Non-communicable diseases may be categorised further as nutritional diseases, genetic disorders, hormonal disorders etc.
