A hydraulic automobile lift is designed to lifts cars with a maximum mass of 3000 kg. The area of cross-section of the piston carrying the load is 425 cm2 . The maximum pressure would the smaller piston have to bear is (take g = 9.8 m/s2 )

Pressure = Force / area
             = (3000 x 9.8) / 4.25 = 6917.7 pascals
