A body travels a distance of 3km towards east, then 4km towards north and finally 9km towards east. what is the resultant dispalcement? do the full solution plzz...

On drawing the diagram we see that:
Here O is the starting point and C is the final point.
Here OAX and CBX are similar triangles hence
AX/BX = OA/CB = 1/3
Thus AX =1 kM
and BX = 3 kM
 
Now using pythagorous theorem in both triangles we get:
 
OX = 3.16 kM
CX =  9.49 kM
 
thus total displacement OC = 12.65 kM.
