Popular Engineering Entrance Exams after Class 12

Engineering is all about using the resources around you to invent quick and inexpensive ways to meet today’s challenges. If you are notorious in your household for your innovative fixes, you might want to test your math and science skills and become an engineer.

Engineering aspirants are expected to clear two entrance exams conducted by the CBSE and IITs.

JEE Main

JEE Main is conducted by CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) at the national level. The qualifying score gets you into engineering programs in NITs, IIITs and other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTs).

The JEE Main is also an eligibility test for the JEE Advanced, which is taken by candidates aspiring for admissions to the undergraduate programmes offered by the IITs/ISM Dhanbad.

More information about JEE Mains can be found on our TopperLearning JEE Page.

Do go through the Official Information Bulletin for JEE Main 2017

JEE Advanced

Through JEE Advanced, IITs and ISM offer admission into undergraduate courses leading to a Bachelor’s, Integrated Master’s or Bachelor-Master Dual Degree in Engineering, Science, Architecture, or Pharmaceutics. The programs are credit-based and thus offer the flexibility to progress at one’s own pace.

Apart from IITs, the following institutes have also used JEE (Advanced) ranks in the past. These include:

  • Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore (IISc) http://www.iisc.ernet.in/ug/index.html
  • Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISERs) located in Bhopal, Mohali, Kolkata, Pune and Thiruvananthapuram
  • Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST), Thiruvananthapuram https://www.iist.ac.in/
  • Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology (RGIPT), Rae Bareli http://www.rgipt.ac.in/

More information about JEE Mains can be found on our TopperLearning JEE Page

The tentative list of participating institutions providing admissions through JEE can be found in Appendix 5 of the Information Bulletin published by JEE here.
